The Fall in Mississauga

A walk today in perhaps the last dry bright day of Autumn in Ontario – the final day of Thanksgiving holiday brought everyone out for a last look at the glorious fall colours.

Fall in just one tree, from freshest green to palest yellow, orange, gold and deep red against the bright cerulean sky and the faintest little wisp of white cloud.

Its not all about colour though, its about the negation of it too, the pale cream of the stiff brittle stalks of the grasses, to the grey lilac dead flower heads and the silver of bare bark of the tree glowing in the shadows.

Reflections in puddles are always interesting, in this case the addition of the first fallen leaves of Autumn make for a richer version of the London skyline. I wish I hadn’t placed the lamp-post right bang in the centre but I don’t want to crop the tree at the left because I like the feeling of being within a dark space looking out to the bright scene across the water. Its only now that I realise that the Thames itself isn’t visible but if I had taken the shot from standing instead of crouching in order to see the water, I wouldn’t have captured the reflection.

At last the website is done – it has been a project for longer than I had intended but its there now for all to see.

Glenys is a true artist, she paints every day and is never happier than when she can be standing at her easel. She is as enthusiastic now as she has ever been and her work is still as glorious and joyful as ever.

Glenys did not want to entitle most of her pieces so you will find no titles at all, as it seemed wrong to label some and not others.

Olympic Bridge

The Olympic Equestrian events were held in Greenwich Park, as will be the Paralympic Equestrian events in early September. A complex bridge structure has been built to allow pedestrians to safely cross the busy A2 road as they arrive at Blackheath station and make their way across the heath to the park.

The sheer number of elements makes for such interesting graphic images. As yet I am not allowed to climb the structure but hope to access the top platform next week.
