A sketch for a 3D structure – Isometric paper certainly helps working out how to draw what I can see clearly in my mind’s eye but still I made a major mistake.

This one lives in my garden, evenly rusted now.
Teak Cubes
One of my father’s modular constructions, seen against a Welsh landscape on one of those bright days when the fields are still vivid green and dotted with wild flowers.
Systems – Rotation, Reversal, Chance
Playing around with a system of rotation and reversal of a simple shape, I corrugated the paper cut-outs which adds an element of chance in how the light falls, the pieces are not attached and naturally curl up in random ways. Half the cut-outs were corrugated top to bottom, the rest side to side. Of course the corrugations shortened the lengths so the pieces no longer fill the squares properly. For a few moments this looked wonderful in strong sunlight but now it’s cloudy again.
Another Modular Construction
My father made several versions of this piece, firstly making seven forms which each described a cube, each one progressively smaller. These units could then be arranged into various forms and then fixed as such.
